1. Letter of
Introduction to the Judges
This is a formal business letter with the purpose of introducing the
student, Portfolio, and Product to the judges. The student describes
his/her experiences during the Internship and reflects upon what was
learned. The student finishes by thanking the judges.
2. Work Samples
These display the student’s talent, creativity, and/or originality. The
Work Samples may be related to athletics, education, work experience,
artistic prowess, or a number of other talents. They should demonstrate
what abilities the student has to offer a company.
3. Cover Letter for Résumé
This business letter accompanies the Résumé and explains the student
worker’s purpose, goals, and qualifications for a job.
4. Résumé
Documentation of work, school, and extracurricular experiences compiled
by the student in a professional Résumé. The student should mention
awards and honors in this document. The document should be formatted in
a professional manner.
5. Job Application
The student
completes a Job Application, preferably one that is used at the place of
business where he or she plans to perform the Internship. If not, any
application from a related company will suffice.
6. Work Experience
Journals
The student describes his or her observations and experiences at the
workplace. When the entries are complete, they should be at least five
pages in length, typed (12-point font), and double-spaced.

Supervisor's Evaluation
A form will be filled out by a supervisor at the work site. The
observation will rate student performance and evaluate the student’s
personality in relation to the career.
8. Process Research Paper
The students will research a process related to their Internship and
explain how to perform the process correctly during a speech which
incorporates visual aids. The Process Paper must include a Works Cited
Page and MLA citations.
9. Work Product Description
An explanation of the Product that precedes all of the documentation
related to the Product that can fit in the Portfolio. Includes a
description of how the Product idea was conceived, how much time was
spent on the Product doing specific activities, difficulties involved in
the Product’s creation, an assessment of what was learned in during the
creative process, and a list of materials.

Work Product Documents
The Product parts and samples make up the majority of the Portfolio.
The Product should demonstrate what the student can do in relation
to his or her field of interest. Include any research documents from
the Internet or the library. Include photos, digital files on CD,
drawings, notes, etc.

Grading Criteria
Does the portfolio meet the following criteria?
1. Complete
Are all of the assignments above included?
2. Neat
Are there clean, organized copies of the content?
3. Mechanically Correct
Punctuation, grammar, spelling, and sentence structure will be graded.
4. Professional in Appearance
Is the binder or folder attractive? Is the appearance of the portfolio
neat, organized, and attractive?

Presentation Day
1st Round - Portfolio Presentations (20 minutes)
Students present/highlight portfolio to a panel of judges (10-15 minutes).
Students answer questions about their personal experience in CIBACS and
answer clarifying questions concerning the portfolio.
2nd Round - Group Interviews (20-25 minutes)
Students compete in a group interview format for a job at a given
business. One student wins the position.
