Work Samples Explanation
Preliminary: Wednesday, 9/7/11 Due Date: Friday, 9/9/11
After brainstorming some strengths, the student will create three work samples. Work samples are simply pictures, drawings, letters, certificates, or any other means of demonstrating on a piece of paper that the student has a positive quality for a work environment. The best samples should look professional, like a page in a magazine. On one page, the student will type, as a title, a description of the positive quality he/she possesses. Then, in at least half a typed, double-spaced page, the student will describe how that quality was developed. The student should then cite examples from life experiences of when that quality was demonstrated and explain why this quality will help him/her in the workplace. The work samples should be on six separate pages (three samples with one 1/2-page description for each sample). Each of the three samples should demonstrate visually what is written in each description. There should be photos of the events and experiences that are described in the half-page descriptions. Here is a partial list of important work-related qualities: POSITIVE MINDED ENTHUSIASTIC QUICK LEARNER GENUINE CARING LOYAL ENERGETIC STABLE FRIENDLY STRONG LEADER HELPFUL INSPIRATIONAL LIGHT-HEARTED HUMOROUS DETAIL-ORIENTED ORGANIZED PUNCTUAL CONFIDENT RESPONSIBLE RESPECTFUL GOAL-ORIENTED TEAM PLAYER SELFLESS PROBLEM SOLVER
This assignment is designed to prepare the student to sell his/her positive qualities during an interview.
